Elle names the best female electric guitar players
The publication stated that lists of top guitarists rarely include women, as they tend to be dominated by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page.
Indeed, Time magazine named Hendrix as the best guitarist in history only last week, while BB King, Chuck Berry, Slash and Eric Clapton were also included in its top ten.
Elle has therefore aimed to correct this oversight by highlighting the work of female artists such as Joan Jett.
She was described as a powerful and "no-nonsense" player, particularly on her most famous hit I Love Rock 'N Roll.
The magazine added that Lita Ford, who used to play with Jett in The Runaways before going solo, is another great female electric guitar player.
Elle said her 1988 album Lita, which included a duet with ex-Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, was full of "headbanging" rockers.Posted on 25 Aug 2009 15:30 to category : Instruments News
