Electric guitars inspire songwriters, says Gibson

Gibson has hailed electric guitars for serving as a muse to many prominent songwriters over the years.
According to the manufacturer, the guitar is the "foundation instrument" of rock 'n' roll and has therefore been mentioned in numerous song lyrics.
Gibson said acts such as Neil Young, Van Halen and Radiohead are among those to namecheck guitars in their songs, along with Mott the Hoople and Talking Heads.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles, which features Eric Clapton playing a Gibson Les Paul, was named as a further example of this trend.
The Cream guitarist was praised by Gibson for crafting "beautiful lines" on this "classic" George Harrison composition, which was released on the White Album in 1968.
"Ever since Chuck Berry sang of carrying his guitar in a gunny sack, rockers have been paying homage to the instrument," Gibson commented.
The company added that the importance of the guitar in the rock genre means this is "hardly surprising".
