Acoustic and electric guitar players across the world are being offered the chance to interact via a new social networking site.
According to Keith Bohanna, founder of the dbTwang website, this is the first online network of its kind to be set up, Business and Leadership reports.
"Up until now, passionate guitar fans have had very limited access to their peers through online forums," he commented.
Mr Bohanna said the website would offer acoustic and electric guitar players a complete social and interactive experience.
This, he stated, would enable them to share details of their collections, allow them to show off prized possessions and look at what goodies are owned by other musicians.
More than 1,000 people have so far signed up to the online network, but Mr Bohanna wants this number to exceed four million by 2015, by which time it should be the "world's number one" guitar database.
This comes after Gibson hailed the electric guitar as the "foundation instrument" of rock 'n' roll and something that has inspired some of the most prominent songwriters of the last 50 years.
