Electric guitar players encouraged to buy slide bar
Posted on 4 Jan 2010 22:00 to category : Instruments News

Gibson has encouraged electric guitar players to consider using a slide bar when performing.
According to the guitar manufacturer, a bottleneck can help to inject some new energy and direction into a person's playing.
This, it stated, would be particularly beneficial to those who feel "stuck in a stylistic rut" and are looking for a fresh tone to work with.
Among the most notable practitioners of this playing style are Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher, blues pioneer Robert Johnson and late Beatle George Harrison.
However, Gibson noted that inexperienced slide players may have to experiment a little in order to find their preferred way of using a bottleneck.
"Slip one on your digit of choice, slide it up the neck and see what you come up with," it said.
Gibson added that slide bars can be made from a wide range of materials, such as steel and glass, and are available in a variety of lengths, diameters and thicknesses.
