Electric guitar 'has dominated music for 50 years'
Electric guitars have been hailed for dominating popular music over the last half century.
A movie documentary telling the story of the electric guitar called It Might Get Loud is to be released on DVD later in the year.
Commenting on the film, MovieWeb said it showcases the talents of three music luminaries - Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, The Edge of U2 and Jack White of The White Stripes.
The website took the opportunity to stress the impact that their chosen instrument has had on popular music since the birth of rock 'n' roll.
"Anyone who has plugged into an amp understands its power," it commented.
"So does the average stadium crowd".
MovieWeb highlighted the section of the film in which the three electric guitar players take part in a jam session as one of its key passages.
The website said this scene demonstrates each musician's varying tastes in gear, with The Edge for example using lots of guitar effects pedals, in contrast to White, who favours a more raw sound.
Page recently told Billboard.com that the film also includes him showcasing snatches of new material, rather than just new versions of old songs.Posted on 14 Oct 2009 11:29 to category : Band / Celebrity News
