Eddie Vedder streams Ukulele Songs online
Eddie Vedder is putting his new album Ukulele Songs online for fans to listen to before it officially goes on sale.
The album is released on Monday and can be pre-ordered on iTunes.
It's another example of musicians taking to the web to make waves with their music. Lady Gaga recently streamed her new album on the Metro newspaper's website, Coldplay tickled their fans with cryptic messages on Twitter, and Radiohead have a website that is a cornucopia of abstract things.
On why he chose the ukulele, the 44-year-old star told National Public Radio (NPR) Music that it was "an activist instrument".
He first picked up the music instrument in Hawaii in the 90s. When a local man started playing Elvis Presley's I Can't Help Falling in Love With You with the music instrument, he realised that it could have endless possibilities.
An interesting fact about Eddie Vedder is that he has inspired at least four songs all of which use his name. This includes Local H's Eddie Vedder, Weird Al Yankovich's My Baby's in Love with Eddie Vedder, SNFU's Better than Eddie Vedder and the Rugburns Me and Eddie Vedder.
