Drummers prepare to break world record
Posted on 12 Oct 2009 16:00 to category : Instruments News

Hundreds of musicians are preparing to get behind their drum kits in order to break a world record.
Earlier this year, more than 580 drummers in the UK - including John Coghlan of Status Quo and Don Powell of Slade - played the same beat simultaneously for five minutes - thereby creating the largest drum ensemble in history.
However, drummers in the US plan to reclaim their world record at the Woodstick Big Beat Drum Event in Washington next month.
Organisers of the drum extravaganza had set a record of having 533 people playing drum kits simultaneously in 2006 before it was broken in the UK in July.
Jason McGerr of Death Cab for Cutie is among those set to take part, along with Korn drummer Ray Luzier and Jon Bolton of The Beatniks.
Jeff Kathan, who has worked with the likes of Paul Rodgers, Howard Leese and Ronnie Montrose, will also be participating.
