Drummers 'need good posture'
Posted on 9 Dec 2009 12:32 to category : Instruments News

People who are learning to play the drum kit have been advised not to lean forward when hammering out a beat.
According to Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek, this is a playing style commonly associated with American drummers.
However, he told the Metro that he believes sitting up straight is a much better way of approaching the instrument.
"You've got to have good posture," he insisted.
"None of this American leaning forward business."
Ficek added that if people want to make it as a professional musician, they should be prepared to put in the hours when learning their instrument.
The drummer, who also plays the guitar and keyboards, said: "Practise hard."
Ficek is currently at work with Babyshambles on their UK tour, which is calling at locations such as Cardiff, Sheffield, Glasgow and Southampton.
However, he is also gearing up for a solo tour in support of his second album Suburban Time Bomb.
Ficek praised his Babyshambles bandmates for being very supportive of his solo projects, which he said help him to keep creative.
