Drummers aim to break world record
Posted on 1 Jul 2009 18:00 to category : Instruments News
Professional and amateur drummers are gearing up to take part in a world record attempt in Birmingham later this month.
About 600 people are expected to try to break the record for the most drummers playing together at the same time.
Don Powell of Slade has already confirmed that he will be participating, while former Status Quo drummer John Coghlan will also be getting behind a drum kit for the occasion.
However, amateurs young and old are set to take part as well, including 11-year-old Zak Reynolds.
Speaking to the Malvern Gazette, his mum Emma Wesley said: "He is very excited about the prospect of being in the Guinness Book of Records.
"He is such a keen drummer."
The world record attempt forms part of the Stick it to MS event, which is being staged at the Birmingham NIA during this year's Drumfest and should raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
