Drum machine 'key part of Two Door Cinema Club's sound'
Hotly-tipped band Two Door Cinema Club have spoken about how using a drum machine has helped them to develop their sound.
The Northern Irish trio started playing together at the age of 15, but had one major problem - none of them could play the drums.
When their original drummer left the group, they decided not to replace him and began using a drum machine instead, reports the Ottawa Citizen.
Guitarist Sam Halliday said the decision was one that suited the group.
"We were three really close friends and it seemed really strange to bring someone else in to that friendship, and to be sharing something so personal with someone else," he explained.
While Two Door Cinema Club now tour with a live drummer, they still use the technology in the studio to help give a different edge to their melodic sound.
The band have an exciting year ahead of them, with the group set to get started on a tour of North America later this week.
A date in Brazil at the end of the month will be followed by a tour of Australia and Japan in February, while gigs in the UK and Ireland will occur in March.
