Drake's artist admiration
Rapper Drake admires Jay Z and Eminem for their "loyal" fan bases.
The 'Best I Ever Had' hitmaker - who collaborated with Jay Z on new album 'Thank Me Later' - explained while the '99 Problems' star has never had to test the loyalty of his fans, the 'We Made You' singer has been through personal ups and downs and kept his supporters.
He said: "I think it's so rare that an artist comes along in our generation that has a loyal following no matter what - I think Eminem has it.
"I think Jay-Z has it, although he's never faltered enough to test it. Jay is almost like the perfect guy. Media-wise, there's never been a true test of your fans staying with you. Eminem has had gone through a couple of ups and downs and his fans were with him no matter what."
The award-winning rapper admitted he thinks close friend, incarcerated hip-hop artist Lil Wayne, will be the next star to prove he has equally loyal fans, despite his recent troubles.
Drake added to MTV: "I think Wayne is that guy. I know Wayne is the next guy, after the two I just named, that has that unconditional loyalty, no matter what.
"You get caught with this and you go to jail. You make little life errors that people should never find out about, but because we're in the public eye, everyone knows everything. Wayne has those fans."Posted on 30 Jul 2010 07:00 to category : Music News
