Door to door salesman Macy Gray
Posted on 23 Aug 2010 07:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Macy Gray has compared herself to a door to door salesman.
Speaking about getting rejected by a number of producers, who refused to work on her new album 'The Sellout', the 42-year-old singer said she had to learn how to handle it.
She explained: "I just went with the ones who called me back. It's nothing, it's alright.
You know, rejections are really popular in the world and the secret is you just go to the next door - you know, like those people who sell vacuums door-to-door. You've just got to keep going and eventually someone says 'yes'."
Macy - who first shot to fame with her 1999 single 'I Try'- thinks the music industry is biased against older musicians.
She added: "There's this idea that only teenagers buy records and watch videos, so I think the industry is just becoming really accustomed to catering to a younger audience and therefore older artists have a really tough time."
The singer blamed the poor sales of her last record 'Big' on her efforts to try to please her record label.
She said: "You get in this rut of trying to please your label which definitely affects your creative process and the honesty of it."
Macy now says she doesn't take advice from other people in the industry, slamming it as "not good advice."
She concluded: "People say stuff. But not that I can or would use. Nah."
