Dizzee Rascal: I like making big hits
The talented rapper and producer, who shot to fame with his Mercury Prize winning debut studio album In Da Corner, told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe he was happy making pop-influenced urban tunes.
"I think some people think that I was pressured into it but it was my choice," he said.
"I like making big pop records. It was something I wanted to try my hand at."
Rascal added that some of his smash hit songs – like Dance Wiv Me, Bonkers and Holiday – were in fact the product of experimentation.
"That was all I wanted to do, and it's worked, so I don't see any reason not to do it," he told Lowe.
The rapper kicked off the New Year by releasing a free mixtape which went down a storm – fans and critics loved it.
He now plans on releasing a proper album sometime later this year as well as going on a tour.
