Dionne Bromfield goes ahead with gig hours after learning about Amy Winehouse's death
Dionne Bromfield, the goddaughter of Amy Winehouse, put on a brave face hours after the soul singer's tragic death was announced by going ahead with a pre-planned gig.
The aspiring young musician, who had been mentored by Winehouse, performed at a music festival in Pontypridd, where she was supporting the boyband The Wanted.
Bromfield, 15, played a 20-minute set and didn't once mention Winehouse or play any of the Back to Black singer's hits.
Her spokesman, Tim Powell, told reporters: "It was very, very professional. We would have perfectly understood if she hadn't wanted to perform but she very bravely did.
"There was no pressure, certainly not under those circumstances. She decided that she wanted to play so it went ahead as scheduled."
Only days earlier Winehouse had performed alongside Bromfield at the iTunes Festival at Camden Roundhouse.
The Grammy Award-winning star had embraced her goddaughter, danced on stage and looked in relatively good spirits.
Winehouse first shot to critical fame with her debut album Frank before her second album, Back to Black, catapulted her to commercial and international success.
Mark Ronson, who co-produced the hit album, tweeted: "She was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life."
A post-mortem is set to be carried out later this week to establish the cause of death.
