Despite theft of music instruments, the show goes on
Kitsap Forest Theatre are showing true theatrical strength of character after insisting the "show must go on" following the theft of music instruments from its inventory.
Olivia Hickerson, the show's band director, returned home one evening last week to find that she had been burgled, reported King 5 News.
Along with the theft of family jewellery, the thief or thieves also made off with valuable music instruments that were integral to the musical show.
Speaking to the broadcaster, actress Lauren Mikov said: "Because we don't have a full orchestra, we put things together between the keyboard and the percussion."
Luckily, after making an appeal to the local arts community, the theatre group were inundated with generous donations.
Ms Hickerson said: "We were getting emails and texts all day saying 'I have a snare. You can borrow it. I have an anvil. You can use it.' And everything just pulled together."
It is believed that the stolen music instruments are valued at around $2,000 (£1,220).
No one quite knows where the exact origins of the phrase "the show must go on". Some speculate it came from the circus, Noel Coward and even the great Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein.
