David Lee Roth: My voice is a mix of others
Posted on 3 Feb 2012 12:13 to category : Band / Celebrity News

David Lee Roth told the Guardian that he took inspiration from David Bowie, Eric Clapton and other hit musicians.
"This is how you create a signature sound," he explained.
"If you're lucky to have it, there's no way around it. I actively imitated everything from the Nicholas Brothers tap dancing to Mick Jagger going 'Oooh yeah!' But because of whatever it never sounds like anything to you but David Lee."
The star also told the newspaper that he lived a very different life away from Van Halen, especially after he left the band for a while.
As a state-licensed emergency medical technician he has had to deal with over 900 calls in the last six years alone. It's a far cry from his wild days back when the band were at the height of their fame.
"I've been rich and I've been poor," he said. "Rich is better. Totally better."
Jump is one of the band's most iconic singles, which comes from their album 1984.
