David Bowie 'provided greatest Glastonbury moment'
David Bowie has been credited with providing the greatest Glastonbury moment of all time.
According to an article in the Telegraph, running down the best performances in the history of the festival, Bowie's appearance in 1971 "gave festival old hands their 24-carat I-was-there moment".
Other artists named as worthy of remembering for their Glastonbury performances by the article include guitar bands such as The Smiths and New Order.
Praise was also given to Jay-Z, whose booking as a headline act in 2008 was criticised prior to his performance by Noel Gallagher.
"The Oasis star claimed hip hop wouldn't work, but Jay-Z arrived with a version of Wonderwall and a crowd-pleasing set of glitzy showmanship," the article stated.
Iggy and the Stooges, Pulp and Paul McCartney were also named in the rundown.Posted on 24 Jun 2010 17:50 to category : Band / Celebrity News
