D'Angelico Guitars Land at Gear4music
In 2011, some of the original archtop guitars were displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. Loved by players past and present, including Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend, owning a D'Angelico guitar means you own a work of art.
Today, 50 years after his death in 1964, D'Angelico guitars have gathered quite the collection of fans. So much that some of them have bought the brand and are using MRI and X-Ray technology to recreate D'Angelico's beloved archtop designs.
For the new D'Angelico guitars , authenticity is the most important aspect. An average of four luthiers work on each guitar, still working from Manhattan. Around 18 months to 2 years of sourcing the raw materials, a new guitar is sent on its way to a new owner.
