Council aims to develop local musical talent

Hampshire County Council is to invest in offering scholarships to musicians in the area.
Great deals on musical instruments

People who play instruments such as guitars and keyboards are being offered the opportunity to develop their talents.

Hampshire County Council has invited local musicians to apply for the chance to obtain funding for a music scholarship.

This will give people in the region the chance to develop their musical skills, in particular disciplines such as performing and composing original material.

The authority also hopes this will appeal to those who have previously played musical instruments but have allowed their skills to go rusty.

Councillor David Kirk said: "I would encourage all those keen to develop their musical skills and talents to get in touch and apply for a grant."

He stated that Hampshire County Council is very keen to help nurture musical talent across the area.

This comes after a study by US-based group the National Association of Music Merchants found that making music can be good for your mental health, as it helps tackle conditions such as stress and depression.
