Coldplay resolve dispute with guitar legend Satriani
Posted on 18 Sep 2009 13:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

According to the Telegraph, the legal battle, which centred on the latter's song If I Could Fly, has culminated in a financial settlement.
Satriani accused the British band of using "substantial, original portions" of his track, which was released in 2004, for their hit single Viva la Vida.
Coldplay denied they had copied the track, claiming any resemblances were accidental.
A statement from the band said: "If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental and just as surprising to us as to him."
However, Satriani is not the only artist to take issue with the song in question.
Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens, may also be seeking legal action over the track, claiming it rips off his 1973 Foreigner Suite offering.
Furthermore, Creeky Boards, a little-known group from America said a piece of their music had been copied.
Satriani's back catalogue includes albums such as Not of This Earth, The Extremist, Flying a Blue Dream and Time Machine.
