Coldplay 'attempting to deliver their masterpiece'
Coldplay feel they have yet to reach their peak, lead singer Chris Martin has said.
The piano player told NME that the group's next album will hopefully be a step forward from their previous efforts.
"We still don't think we've delivered our masterpiece, so we're still trying to do it," he explained.
"As long as we feel like that and we're hungry … that's all that matters."
Coldplay are currently in the studio working on their next record with producers Brian Eno and Marcus Dravs.
Martin explained that the band had used their time with Eno by "messing around" in an attempt to come up with something new and creative, while it is the job of Dravs to turn what they have recorded so far into something cohesive.
The piano player admitted that the group are keen not to make an album that is overly long, especially as they divide opinion among music fans so much.
Coldplay have already been confirmed for four festival appearances later in the year, with the band set to visit Holland, Poland, Belgium and Brazil over the course of 2011.
No British live dates have been scheduled for the band yet.
