Coldplay: This album could be our last
In a revelation that has shook the music world, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the Mail on Sunday that after investing so much energy, effort and creativity with their latest offering, they were unsure about what the future holds.
"This could be our last album. It's the distillation of three years' work and right now I can't imagine where another one would come from," he said.
Martin, who is married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, also added that he viewed teen sensation Justin Bieber and Adele as the band’s competition, music stars who have dominated the charts with their hits this year.
He told the news provider: "The most important thing always is to proceed as if every album is the last and not expect anything more."
Although he and his band might be one of the biggest pop musicians in the world, he said most people pass them by without even batting an eyelid – something that Martin is more than happy to live with.
Coldplay have described their new album as a love story with a happy ending, which was inspired by the band's decision to look at how they could move forward creatively as artists after Vida la Vida.
