Chris Martin rings Wedding Bells
Posted on 2nd Sep 2010 10:00 to category Band / Celebrity News
Chris Martin debuted new song 'Wedding Bells' during a surprise performance yesterday (01.09.10).
The Coldplay frontman made the appearance at the end of a press conference for technology company Apple's new products in San Francisco, where he played the new track as well as two of his group's biggest hits, 'Yellow' and 'Viva La Vida'.
As he introduced 'Wedding Bells', Chris joked: "This is a new song called 'Coldplay 2.6' and it has a lot of new features, it features seven different kinds of chords and even a new one that our closest rivals have no idea about.
"This could be the only time you ever hear it. It could go terribly wrong but we'll see what happens."
It is not known if the song will be included on the forthcoming Coldplay album, which is said to be near completion.
Speaking before the group's only UK and US number one 'Viva La Vida' - which was used by Apple in an advertising campaign - Chris told the audience: "Our record company said this is not a hit single. But with the weight of Apple, they managed to turn it into a very successful single. So thank you."
The event was held to launch a new range of products and a new social music network entitled Ping, which allows users to build networks of friends and follow musicians, in a similar way to Twitter and Facebook.
