Children choose guitar as 'favourite musical instrument'
One of the most popular musical instruments among children these days is the guitar, a recent survey has revealed.
Earlier this week, BBC Worldwide reported that the instrument is well-liked among both boys and girls aged 18 or under, with 17 per cent of the former choosing to learn how to play the guitar and nine per cent of the latter.
The survey, carried out by ICM, also showed that other popular musical instruments among both groups include the keyboard and the recorder, while boys favoured the drums and nine per cent of girls took piano lessons.
Speaking with BBC News, Stephanie Cooper, editor of Zingzillas magazine, said: "Young children love responding to music by dancing, singing, creating pictures or talking about what they hear, which gives them creative confidence."
Children have recently been encouraged to pick up a musical instrument after pop group McFly announced that fans can receive electric guitar tutorials for their songs through a website, the Guardian reported.
