Great deals on musical instruments

A charity known for its generous donations of music instruments to young musicians is now in need of donations itself.

Since 1997 the Perth and Kinross Music Foundation (PKMF) has been giving financial support to aspiring instrumental musicians. It has helped 75 young people a year since, reported the Perthshire Advertiser.

However, now the foundation itself needs contributions to allow it to continue its work.

PKMF, which runs its operations under the slogan of "letting are children play", is launching a campaign during the Perth Festival of the Arts to bring attention to its unfortunate situation.

It is highlighting the fact that there will be many young people who will be playing at the festival because of the charity.

Speaking to the newspaper, Sigurd Scott, chairperson of PKMF, said: "We will not be able to continue to help young people if we do not get more money. So we are starting our campaign during these festival concerts in St John’s so people coming in will see our new banner and can read our leaflets telling them about PKMF and how they can help."

Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, recently launched a new scholarship scheme in London that would provide aspiring and talented young musicians with opportunities to develop their skills.
