Chad Channing tells of Nirvana split
The man who originally played the drum kit for Nirvana has lifted the lid on his departure from the band.
Chad Channing spent two years in the grunge rock group, playing on debut album Bleach before being replaced by Dave Grohl.
Speaking to ClashMusic, he revealed that musical rather than personal differences led to him being booted out of the band.
Indeed, he said he should have left earlier than he did and admitted that his fellow band members had little option but to seek a replacement drummer.
"It was always just a musical thing and I can't stress that enough," Channing commented.
"I never had any issues the guys themselves."
Channing added that he is still good friends with Nirvana's bass guitar player Krist Novoselic to this day.
With Dave Grohl on the drum kit, Nirvana went on to enjoy hits such as Smells Like Teen Spirit, but the death of frontman Kurt Cobain in 1994 brought the group to a premature end.Posted on 6 Nov 2009 15:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
