Carl Barat writing new material for The Libertines
Guitar player Carl Barat has revealed he is in the process of coming up with new material for The Libertines.
The iconic indie band have decided to reform this year in order to play at the Reading and Leeds festivals, but until now have stayed quiet about whether any new tracks will be aired.
Speaking to NME at Glastonbury where Barat performed a solo show the musician revealed: "We haven't done any preparation yet, apart from being in touch.
"I'm sending Pete [Doherty] a song maybe we'll do something with that."
On the topic of his forthcoming solo album, Barat stated that it feels and sounds "totally different" to the work he has done with bands in the past.
The record is to come out in October, with the guitar player setting off on a tour of the UK and Europe in support of it from the middle of that month.
