Carey Mulligan to learn violin for new role
Posted on 9 Jul 2010 09:00 to category : Instruments News

Rising star Carey Mulligan is to learn the violin to help her with her latest acting role.
Mulligan - who shot to fame after starring in An Education – is to take the lead role in the screen adaption of Ian McEwan's novel On Chesil Beach, which is a story focused on the wedding night of a young couple.
Her character in the film is the leader of a string quartet, meaning that Mulligan has decided to learn the musical instrument for the part, reports the Daily Mail.
"Next week the actress will begin working with a violin teacher so at least she can look as if she knows how to handle the instrument when she's playing her scales and arpeggios," the newspaper explained.
The film is to be directed by Sam Mendes and shooting will begin in September.
Mulligan has previously appeared in films including Public Enemies and Brothers and has a part in forthcoming Hollywood sequel Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps.
