Bullet For My Valentine not too dark

Bullet For My Valentine think metal gets "too serious and dark".
The 'Your Betrayal' group reckon some people in metal bands can take themselves too seriously, and get somewhat detached from reality with their image, rather than concentrating on their music.
Speaking backstage as the band prepared to play as secret show for website MySpace, singer and guitarist Matt Tuck told BANG Showbiz said: "It can get too serious and dark, but it's not something we're into - although our stuff can be little dark at times, we never try to be negative.
"We don't dress up as Vikings or use corpse paint or anything like that. We're kind of a nice balance between reality and metal.
"There's some bands you look at and there's these guys with make up and blood dripping down their faces, and they think they're vampires and Satanists, you're like 'really, come on, you're a bunch of guys from Birmingham, who play guitar in a band'.
"I think a lot of bands are a very style conscious and want to be fashionable, but the most important thing is the songs, the plastic of that CD, that's what you're in a band for to make cool music that you love."
The singer - who is joined in the band by lead guitarist Michael Paget, drummer Michael 'Moose' Thomas and bassist Jason James - also said the group are wrongly labelled image conscious.
He said: " We always get jip for it, because people say 'you're a style conscious band and image is everything, and it's so not.
"How we're dressed is how we dress everyday and how we go onstage. We have no wardrobe, I've not done my hair today, we've all got hats on, we all look loke s**t, we're not into that."
Bullet For My Valentine have just released their third album 'Fever'. For more information head to www.myspace.com/bulletformyvalentine
