Buddy Guy to receive Lifetime Achievement Award
Posted on 20 Apr 2010 15:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Electric guitar player Buddy Guy is to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Blues Foundation next month.
The musician will pick up the honour at the ceremony in Memphis on May 6th 2010, with Guy also scheduled to perform live on the night, reports the Gibson website.
Guy, who has won 28 Blues Music Awards across the course of his lengthy career, was described by the Foundation as the man who "obliterated the perceived chasm between blues and rock".
It added that the electric guitar player achieved this "with a sense of dynamics and bravado that is rare in artists of any age".
Earlier this year, solo artist John Mayer revealed that Guy is one of his major inspirations, as well as a close friend.
Mayer told the Observer that the older musician invented the guitar solo something that helped to pave the way for the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.
