Great deals on musical instruments

Bryan Ferry used three bass players on one track on his new album.

The 'Love Is The Drug' singer layered ace bassists Mani, from Primal Scream, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and jazz ace Marcus Miller on the song 'You Can Dance' for his latest solo album 'Olympia', saying while it was a "great indulgence" he liked the different energies the performers brought to the track.

He told Pitchfork.com: "Marcus Miller is the main bass player, but then you have Mani, who has a different kind of energy, and on the choruses Flea comes in.

"I suppose it's more sophisticated than you'd normally get with three kids in a garage. But it's reached a point in my life where I have to do things I've never done before.

"While it's a great indulgence, it's also very interesting to have three bass players on the same track."

He also said he likes to team different styles of musician together, having Radiohead indie-rocker guitarist Jonny Greenwood and funk bassist Nile Rogers appear on another track together.

Bryan also said he helps himself stay with current trends through employing young people in his band.

He added: "The core of my band is made up of very young people, like my son Tara, who is the main drummer. He's only 20 years old. And my other son, Isaac, comes from the dance world and he's been recruiting people like Fred Falke and DJ Hell to do dance mixes of some of the new tracks, too."
