Bruce Springsteen honoured by Obama
Posted on 8 Dec 2009 22:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Fender Telecaster player Bruce Springsteen has been handed a prestigious award by Barack Obama.
The electric guitar legend, who is best known for hits such as Born to Run, I'm on Fire and Dancing in the Dark, was given a Kennedy Center honour by the president in recognition of his contribution to American culture.
This puts him in exalted company, as previous recipients include singer Barbra Streisand and The Who's electric guitar player Pete Townshend.
Springsteen said it was very "satisfying" to receive this award, which he described as an acknowledgement that "you have threaded your way into the culture in a certain way".
Mr Obama added that while he may be the president, Springsteen is the Boss.
This caps another successful year for the music veteran, who headlined the Glastonbury Festival during the summer.
The electric guitar player also recently undertook an extensive tour of the US, which called at venues including Madison Square Gardens in New York and the Verizon Center in Washington DC.
