The outgoing culture secretary has reiterated his belief in the importance of exposing young people to the arts.

Speaking to the Independent, he stated that this would stimulate their interest in aspects of the arts such as music, and possibly lead to them enjoying careers in the creative industries.
Mr Burnham, who recently joined Feargal Sharkey to open a government-funded music rehearsal space, commented: "We need to capture our children's imagination and inventive enthusiasm early.
"Ideas are the raw material of the creative industries."
At the opening of the facility in Liverpool last month, Mr Burnham joined the former Undertones singer to perform an impromptu version of the band's classic hit Teenage Kicks.
Mr Burnham played electric guitar while Sharkey took the mic to sing vocals.
