Brandon Flowers' 'strange' solo career
Posted on 10 Aug 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

Brandon Flowers originally wrote the songs on his debut solo album for The Killers.
The band's frontman - who is to release first solo LP 'Flamingo' in September - admitted writing tracks for himself felt "strange" after the group recently decided to take a hiatus after six years together.
He told Britain's Elle magazine: "I wrote the songs for the band. I didn't write anything for myself. I've only ever known The Killers. So it was strange once it became apparent I was doing this alone."
The 'Mr. Brightside' hitmaker has made no secret of the fact that he would rather be recording a fourth studio album with The Killers than going it alone, but the rest of the group - bassist Mark Stoermer, guitarist Dave Keuning and drummer Ronnie Vannucci - wanted to take a break.
He recently said: "To be honest, I personally would prefer it if this was a Killers record. Some of the songs were originally destined to be Killers songs, but it is what it is.
"I'm overflowing with songs right now. It's something that has happened very quickly and very recently. That, combined with the other guys in the band wanting to take a long break, is what convinced me to do this album. I can't really blame the other guys but I've got this fire burning. I'm ready to go."
