Bowling for Soup surprised at success of acoustic songs
Punk rock band Bowling for Soup have said they are pleased with how successful some of their acoustic guitar numbers have been.
The group, who are famed for their fast, upbeat tracks, recently said they were surprised that many of their songs sounded great simply being sang with just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment.
"It's always a nice surprise when you're like, 'that song would never work,' then, weirdly, it does," vocalist Jaret Reddick told news provider Bang Showbiz.
He added that one of the first rules of music he learned was that if a song sounds good on an acoustic guitar then it is a good song, which is why all of his songs are written on an acoustic instrument.
Jaret also had some advice for music lovers just discovering Bowling for Soup, suggesting that they turn their attention to the group's back catalogue.
"We've been together a long time, but for someone who's just discovering us, they should run the spectrum of our career," he added.
Bowling for Soup's 11th album 'Fishin' For Woos' is out now.
The group's past hits include Girl All the Bad Guys Want and High School Never Ends.
