Bombay Bicycle Club 'surprised' by acoustic guitar album success
Posted on 3 Aug 2010 20:34 to category : Music News

The new album of stripped down tracks from London-based indie outfit Bombay Bicycle Club has been well received, much to the surprise of the band.
Flaws, which features low-key tracks using acoustic guitars, achieved a top ten position in the UK charts after being released in July, but the group had only intended it to be a stop gap before the new album proper.
Speaking to NME, frontman Jack Steadman claimed that the release was originally just for their own pleasure, featuring different versions of their own songs and covers of Joanna Newsom and John Martyn hits.
"I think the record label humoured us and thought it was kind of funny that we wanted to release it. I think we're all surprised by how well it's done," he added.
Those looking to record their own covers could take the advice of Gibson.com's contributing editor Ellen Barnes, who recently claimed that it is less difficult than people think to learn how to play the songs of The Beatles on a guitar.
