Bobby Long 'inspired by musical heroes to pick up guitar'
Rising star Bobby Long has explained that listening to the songs of a number of musical legends helped to inspire him to pick up the acoustic guitar.
Speaking to the Gibson Lifestyle blog, the singer-songwriter - who topped the iTunes Unsigned chart with his debut acoustic record Dirty Pond Songs - said that he was also motivated to learn the instrument because of his father.
"A lot of musicians that I loved, like Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Tony Iommi all inspired me to begin playing guitar. My dad used to play a lot at home and I'd always wanted to learn," Long stated.
The acoustic guitar player added that another huge influence on his musical career has been Bob Dylan, as he owns the star's entire back catalogue.
He said Dylan is such a great songwriter that other musicians would be happy to retire if they could have just written one of his tracks.
Long has an exciting start to the year lined up, with the solo star due to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in February.
He is also set to take part in an extensive tour of the US that is to begin in late January.
