Blur drummer fails in parliamentary bid
Posted on 7 May 2010 17:11 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Dave Rowntree, the man normally found behind the drum kit in Blur, has failed in his bid to become an MP.
The musician was standing as a Labour Party candidate for the seat of the Cities of London and Westminster in the general election yesterday (May 6th 2010) but came second to Conservative Mark Field.
However, Rowntree wrote on Twitter that he was pleased with his performance in the traditionally-safe Tory seat, where he recorded 8,188 votes to Field's 11,076, reports NME.
In addition to his political campaigning, Rowntree has also been busy musically in recent weeks.
Blur released their first new piece of music in seven years last month, by bringing out a limited edition single in aid of Record Store Day.
Miles Leonard, president of Blur's record company Parlophone, told BBC 6 Music he hoped the band would return to the studio once more in the near future.
