Black Sabbath guitarist diagnosed with cancer
Tony Iommi, 63, who is respected for his skills behind the electric guitar, has been revealed to be in the early stages of lymphoma.
Black Sabbath, who have only just reformed much to the joy of fans all across the world, took to Facebook to make the announcement.
With the news that Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time," the statement reads.
"Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan. The Iron Man of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."
They added that the news has come at a time where they are writing and recording music in Los Angeles with hit producer Rick Rubin. They will now head on to the UK to work with Iommi.
Music stars took to Twitter to give Iommi their support.
Ex Guns N' Roses axeman Slash tweeted: "Best wishes for a full recovery."
"Everyone please send their prayers/good vibes/best wishes to Tony Iommi for a speedy recovery; he has been diagnosed [with] lymphoma," said David Draiman from Disturbed.
