Billy Bragg sees new play 'as an extension of songwriting aims'
Posted on 20 Apr 2010 13:05 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Guitar player Billy Bragg has explained that he sees the new play he has contributed to as just another means of communicating with people.
Pressure Drop opened in London last night (April 19th 2010) and is the story of a working class family living in the city coping with the changing face of their neighbourhood.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Bragg said that the main aspect of his job as a songwriter is to give people a different perspective on the world something that can be achieved in a number of ways.
"You can write songs, you can do gigs, you can talk to people between songs at gigs, you can write articles, you can Tweet... writing a play is another way of communicating those ideas," the guitar player stated.
Bragg has written new songs for the play, which is a collaboration with director Mick Gordon, and said he will be looking to update them constantly to reflect current political issues.
The musician is also involved with the Jail Guitar Doors charity, an organisation he formed to give prisoners access to musical instruments as part of their rehabilitation.
