Bill Wyman hailed as role model to smokers
Posted on 26 Oct 2009 11:59 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Bass guitar player Bill Wyman has been hailed as a positive role model after he successfully managed to quit smoking.
The former Rolling Stone, 73, had smoked regularly for 55 years until he was told that he was very close to developing emphysema.
This prompted the legendary musician to gradually cut down his tobacco intake to the point where he was able to stop smoking completely.
Wyman's positive response to his health warning has led to him being praised by NHS West Midlands, which described him as a "tremendous example" for smokers to follow.
Paul Hooper, regional tobacco policy manager, told the Sunday Mercury: "We have the greatest admiration for anyone who quits smoking.
"Any role models we can have are great."
Wyman, who notched up hits such as Not Fade Away, The Last Time and Paint It Black with the Stones, is currently gearing up for a nationwide tour with his current band, Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings.
