Bernard Sumner volunteers to write Olympics anthem
Posted on 1 Mar 2010 16:45 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Electric guitar player Bernard Sumner has offered to write an anthem for the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic Games.
The former Joy Division and New Order star told BBC 6 Music that he would be "very interested" in writing such a track.
"I'm a sporty guy myself," Sumner said. "I go jogging every day. I jog 20 miles every day so I'm well into athletics."
The electric guitar player famously helped write 1990 World Cup anthem World in Motion with his New Order bandmates.
Sumner has recently formed new band Bad Lieutenant, who went on tour with the Pet Shop Boys in December.
Two other bands who have also expressed an interest in providing the Olympic anthem are Muse and The Horrors.
Muse drummer Dominic Howard stated that the band may be interested in having one of their songs used, while Tom Cowan, bass guitar player in The Horrors, revealed that his group have already written a track named Olympian that would make a "perfect" soundtrack for the Games.
