Great deals on musical instruments
A concert piano owned by renowned composer Benjamin Britten has returned to his Suffolk home as part of its redevelopment.

he property is undergoing a £4.7 million restoration project and the return of the piano to Red House, in Aldeburgh, has been regarded as a major "milestone" in the workings, the BBC reports.

It is one of two pianos that the composer used and it has now been placed back in the library - it will be winched into a recreation of the studio he wrote songs in during the 1950's

Keith Gosling, from the Britten Pears Foundation BPF, told the news provider: "We're a little nervous about the prospect of hoisting his piano. It's a delicate instrument and completely irreplaceable so we're taking our time and doing it very carefully."

He went on to add that the studio is a very special place of Red House as it is where Britten penned compositions between the late 1950s to the early 70's including the famous War Requiem.

The redevelopment has been aided by a £1.4 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund with the BPF stumping up the rest of the costs.

Benjamin Britten provided music for a number of operas including Death in Venice and A Midsummer Night's Dream. He lived at Red House from 1957 until his death in 1976.
