Beatles memorabilia set to go under the hammer
A Yamaha acoustic guitar signed by George Harrison is among the lots of Beatles memorabilia set to be auctioned off tomorrow (December 3rd 2010). The event is to be hosted by Julien's Auctions in California and will see items such as drawings by John Lennon going under the hammer, reports the Liverpool Echo.
While the Yamaha acoustic guitar is expected to fetch in the region of $30,000 (£19,200), the piece that is expected to bring in the most money is Lennon's Sgt Pepper jacket, which he wore for a Life magazine photo shoot in 1966. The item is forecast to bring in about $200,000.
Darren Julien, president and chief executive officer of the auction house, said this is the first time such an extensive collection of Beatles memorabilia has featured in a single public sale.
Last month, more than two million downloads of Beatles songs were made on iTunes after they were made available on the Apple music service for the first time.
