Bass guitar player hints at new XX album
Posted on 22 Jul 2010 20:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Fresh from the announcement that The XX have been shortlisted for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize, the band's bass guitar player has revealed that a new album could also be on the way.
Oliver Sim, who also sings in the group, claimed that it is likely that work will begin on writing a new record at some point in 2010, once a string of live shows are completed.
Speaking to Xfm at the nomination ceremony for the Mercury Prize, Sim said: "We come home in October so hopefully we'll start writing then. I think there will be pressure [on us]. This album was made with no expectations of us - no one knew who we were."
He added that the new-found fame could mean that the next album has a different sound, as the band will be writing songs with the knowledge that lots of people will hear them, but the bassist suggested that they will try to block that out.
Also included in the shortlist for this year's Mercury Prize are acts such as Biffy Clyro, Paul Weller and Wild Beasts.
