Barton launches its first ever Guitar Festival
Barton is hosting its first ever Guitar Festival which launches this evening (June 2nd) and continues on throughout the weekend.
Headlining the event tonight will be the award-winning Martin Taylor, known as the world's "foremost exponent" of solo jazz guitar playing, reported the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
Mark Keable, the festival's musical director, said that people attending the headline performance at Ropery Hall would not be disappointed.
He told the newspaper: "As well as being a true guitar innovator, he is also a master concert performer, dazzling audiences with his solo shows which combine virtuosity, emotion, humour, with a strong stage presence."
The festival will play host to a coterie of guitar masters and enthusiasts. Steve Tilston, Walter Strauss and Ezio, Chantel McGregor, Chris Sherburn, Denny Bartley and Dave Swarbrick are just some of the stars set to make an appearance at the inaugural event.
Electric guitar player Eddie Vedder is someone who won't be making a show. The Pearl Jam star is currently promoting his new album which has seen him swap his guitar for a ukulele, whose popularity as a music instrument is growing.
