Babyshambles drummer 'just wants to make a living'

Adam Ficek of Babyshambles has revealed he has no interest in receiving wider recognition in the music industry.
Great deals on musical instruments

The man who hits the drum kit for Babyshambles has said he is not interested in winning music industry awards and becoming a huge seller.

According to Adam Ficek, he is keen to keep performing for as long as he is able to make a living. However, he said accolades such as the Mercury Prize or becoming the biggest-selling band in the world are not on his radar.

"We're more quiet and detached and unseen," he commented. "We're more your kind of meat and potatoes band - we just want to play."

Speaking to the Evening Post, Ficek added that the band do work very hard in rehearsals, although he believes that playing live is the best way for bands to improve.

Indeed, he said musicians "naturally shape up" when they get on stage night after night. Babyshambles have just completed a tour of the UK, which called at cities such as Cardiff, Bath, Liverpool and Glasgow before wrapping up at Nottingham last night.
