Aspiring musicians perform at Buckingham Palace

Young musicians who have overcome adversity have played a concert for Prince Harry.
Great deals on musical instruments

A number of aspiring musicians have joined drum 'n' bass star Goldie in giving a special concert at Buckingham Palace in front of Prince Harry.

Among the 12 young people chosen to be part of the show was a deaf trumpet player and a former criminal who learnt how to play the guitar while he was in prison, reports the Press Association.

Theone Coleman from Bournemouth was serving time for drug dealing and shoplifting when he was given a musical instrument to use as part of Billy Bragg's Jail Guitar Doors scheme.

The musicians were mentored by the likes of songwriter Guy Chambers and singer Ms Dynamite in preparation for their performance.

Goldie said the project, which will be the subject of a forthcoming BBC Two series, was one of the "most inspiring" things he has ever been involved with.

"It's all about unearthing musical talent that's under the radar in Britain - finding young people who've faced huge challenges and have never had the opportunities that they deserve," the star explained.

Goldie has a busy career as a DJ, recently performing in clubs in Manchester, Birmingham, London and Zurich.
