Ashbourne-based grammar school receives new piano
Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School received the instrument after the organisation generated funds through a subscription scheme which encouraged increased investment in the school, the Ashbourne News Telegraph reports.
The annual initiative has been running since 2009 and parents who pay an annual £5 fee are entered into a draw held every 12 months, where they can win £50 and a bottle of champagne.
It has allowed staff at Queen Elizabeth's to generate funds to purchase new equipment for different departments and this time the musical side of the school has benefited from a brand new piece of equipment that will be used for years to come.
Rachel Gardner, who won this year's prize, told the source: "It was a complete surprise to win this prize. I have found it very easy to support the school through the subscription scheme. Becoming a winner was a great bonus."
It comes after the Skegness Standard reported that a piano centre in the town was holding a prize draw for people to win free music lessons.
