Arctic Monkeys 'planning to release new album this year'
Arctic Monkeys are in the studio working on their fourth album and hope they will be able to release it during 2011.
According to a report in the NME, the electric guitar band began work on the new record with producer James Ford at the end of last year with a series of studio sessions in London.
The Sheffield group have now headed to Los Angeles to continue their work on the album.
Ford has worked with Arctic Monkeys on a number of previous occasions, producing second LP Favourite Worst Nightmare and co-producing their last record Humbug with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Joshua Homme.
He has also collaborated with the likes of Florence and the Machine and Klaxons in the past.
Arctic Monkeys have a busy 2011 in front of them, with the band already booked to play Oxegen Festival in Ireland, as well as being heavily rumoured to be headlining this year's V Festival.
They have also recently been confirmed as one of the performers at June's Rock A Field 2011 event, which is taking place in Luxembourg and will also feature Arcade Fire, Blink 182 and Elbow.
